In partnership with Corporate, Professional and Industry Training (CPI Training) Alinea is embarking on a new, CAD8.5M, 5-year project working to enhance economic empowerment, well-being and inclusive growth for women in Ghana. The Global Affairs Funded “Empowering Women in Non-Traditional Trades for the Northern Economy Project“  will empower young women to participate in non-traditional trades through reducing barriers and enabling greater ccess to training and resources for technical skills development.

A range of technical trade areas are supported under the project including: welding; electrical and electronics; mechanical maintenance; agricultural mechanization and agro-processing; and auto mechanics.

In addition to trades training, partner Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions are being supported to improve students’ access to informal apprenticeships and entrepreneurship training. These learning opportunities will improve female students’ employment and business readiness by building skills in information and communications technology (ICT), negotiation, assertiveness, personal and professional presentation, and leadership.
