In June 2018, the Minister of the Government of Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers, Oleksandr Sayenko, announced that the government would adopt Results-Based Management (RBM) in an effort to improve the strategic planning and implementation of nation-wide reforms. The announcement came following a meeting with members of Alinea’s Expert Deployment for Governance and Economic Growth (EDGE) Project, a five year $18.6 million Global Affairs Canada-funded initiative in support of Ukraine’s move towards a democratic and prosperous society. The implementation of the new RBM system will require a detailed elaboration of the strategy, the selection of pilot ministries and the training of strategic planning directors. “We will implement world standards of government strategic planning, ensure the operation of simple and understandable procedures . . .,” Sayenko stressed.

EDGE works across a broad range of governance sectors to advance citizen-centered democracy, promote sustainable economic growth, and respond to critical needs of the Ukrainian government in planning, implementing and communicating reforms.
