Citizenship: Ukraine.
Language Requirements: Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian, English.

Project Description: SDA is two-year investment by His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom aimed at providing support to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, through a range of technical assistance and capacity building. This is provided primarily through four core Ukrainian CSO/NGO partners, and with the support of Alinea International on technical direction and the provision of international expertise.
The key programme objective is to strengthen defence systems and structures, improve military-industrial governance, and promote civilian security and democratic control over the AFU to help Ukraine effectively repel Russian aggression, counter Russian narrative, and eventually integrate into NATO.
About the Work:
The Head of Accounting will be an integral part of our finance team, working collaboratively within a group of eight staff members, including a Finance Manager and another Finance Officer. In this role, you will closely collaborate with team members from our implementing NGO partners, fostering strong relationships and ensuring seamless financial operations, as well as you will oversee various accounting functions, from budget development to financial reporting, payroll management, and audit preparation. The purpose of the position is to lead the accounting at EDGE Foundation. The candidate will lead and manage the financial compliance and risks of the project.
The Role:
• Manage the organisation of accounting procedures.
• Develop proposal budgets, budget monitoring, maintain financial records, and manage payment reconciliations.
• Report financial status by developing forecasts for the organisation’s budget, and report results and analyse variances.
• Prepare draft start work order for NGO Head and start work order for Finance Director.
• Payroll accounting for NGO Head and Finance Director.
• Consultations with the bank regarding salary project and bank statement issues on as needed basis.
• Support in preparation for the finance reports required by Ukrainian legislation.
• Prepare and present accounts, financial statements and other requirements for auditing and be responsible for responses to audit queries.
• Conduct periodic bank reconciliations and maintain records on file.
• Set up accounting system and prepare accounting documents according to the organisational guidelines and donor requirements.
• Enter financial transaction into the accounting software.
• Process payments, file, and archive all relevant documents.
• Support the project’s quarterly and annual reports as and when needed.
Required Qualifications:
• The candidate is expected to meet the following requirements related to her/his qualification, skills, and professional experience:
• A minimum of a university degree or post-graduation qualification or professional course in one of the following fields: Accounts, Finance, Audit or any relevant business-related fields.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in accounting for NGOs and IOs.
• In depth knowledge of accounts and comprehensive understanding of financial management.
• Proven ability to collaborate well and to deliver work in a timely manner.
• Experience in using financial management and information systems.
• Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
• Fluency in Ukrainian, English, written and spoken.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Ukrainian financial legislation and compliance requirements is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership qualities when necessary.
