Project Description:
United for Care-Sensitive Approaches to Rights and Empowerment (UCARE) is a CAD $9.8 five-year project funded by Global Affairs Canada which will run from April 2024 – March 2029. The project seeks to enhance the well-being of women and adolescent girls in northern Ghana by redistributing and reducing the heavy, unequal and unfair burden of unpaid care and domestic work (UCW) they perform. The project operates within the Canadian Feminist International Assistance Policy and supports the objectives of the Government of Ghana in meeting its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 5.4.
About the Role
Capacity development and training is a core activity and central to the success of the UCARE Project. The Training and Capacity Development Coordinator will play a vital role in building knowledge, skills and capacity to address unpaid care and domestic work issues in Ghana. The Training and Capacity Development Coordinator will work closely with all partners, team members and stakeholders to ensure project training and capacity development activities are efficiently delivered and well-coordinated.
Key responsibilities and deliverables:
- Liaise with UCARE stakeholders, local government officials (MMDAs, RCCs) and project partners to implement UCARE capacity building and related project activities in line with approved annual work plans and budget
- Assess the training needs of District Assemblies and Regional Coordinating Councils for the purpose of delivering capacity building programs on unpaid care and domestic work
- Coordinate and facilitate training programs and capacity building activities based on identified needs
- Identify appropriate methodologies for training and capacity development that achieve the planned outputs and activities defined in annual work plans
- Facilitate training workshops and meetings, develop agendas to achieve stated objectives, document progress, agreements, and issues, and providing follow up assistance as required
- Develop a system to track and monitor training attendance and training program completion
- Report on progress and activities for semi-annual and annual progress reports in conjunction with other UCARE team members
- Develop a bank of training resources, consultants, service providers to design and deliver training workshops
- Schedule and manage internal and external training events, activities and logistics
- Develop training activity budgets and track expenses
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Organizational Development, Education, Management, Psychology or related field
- 5 years of work direct experience in a training and capacity development role
- Demonstrated practical experience conducting training needs assessments, and designing and delivering training programs
- Demonstrated experience applying adult education and learning approaches; coaching and mentoring experience a plus
- Ability to integrate gender equality objectives into training design and delivery
- Strong workshop facilitation skills and training materials development experience
- Understanding of project management processes, strong skills using MS Word suite of software
