About the work:
Alinea’s UK project portfolio covers a broad range of technical areas, including: Livelihoods, Governance, Climate Change Resilience, Countering Violent Extremism, Counter-Terrorism, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Strategic Communications. This role will be contingent upon the successful award of an anticipated project. Reporting to the Project Director, the Manager will have day-to-day management responsibility for ensuring individual mandates are on track while achieving overall project goals. They will be the primary point of contact for the client, and manage relationships with partners, and team members.

The Role:
Project Management

  • Ensuring the management of the project budget, so that Alinea makes a return in-line with our commercial proposal
  • Quarterly work-planning and budget development, working with the Team Leader, to allocate personnel time, in-line with project and client requirements
  • Meeting regularly with the client and liaising on any issues that need to be dealt with at the corporate level, i.e. not by a project team member
  • Working with Alinea head office support to draft contracts, and client invoices
  • Reporting – with the Team Leader – to the Project Director on project progress, risks, challenges, and opportunities
  • Reviewing and quality assuring project deliverables, e.g. reports
  • Other project oversight activities as directed
  • Managing budget creation for help-desk, call-down activities, on a time and material basis, building LoE-based budgets in collaboration with Team Leader
  • Working with broader Alinea team members to identify replacement staff, should a staff member leave the project

Although most of the time for this role will be spent on project work, there will frequently be times where the applicant is not fully occupied with project work. In such periods, they will be expected to work with the broader Alinea UK team. This will primarily focus on Business Development and include:

  • Bid management
  • Working with broader Alinea UK team to identify new business opportunities
  • Working with broader Alinea UK team to build and maintain partnerships with different subcontractors and/ or prime contractors
  • Contributing to the writing of bid sections
  • Generally networking and building connections across clients and potential partners, to strengthen Alinea’s commercial position

Required Qualifications:
Mandatory:

· At least 6 years of experience working in international development, or related fields, with experience of project management
· Demonstrated ability to manage relations with multiple stakeholders for data collection, data verification, reporting and dissemination.
· Demonstrated ability to manage demanding situations and multiple projects simultaneously.
· Excellent computer skills. A strong skill set in MS Office is required, particularly in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
· Demonstrated diplomatic tact and ability to work across institutional contexts, languages, and cultures.

Desirable:
· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
· High level of attention to detail
· Experience in reviewing documents of length up to 100+ pages
· A team player who readily supports other organizational members and members of their project team(s)
· Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian
