Sharing Canada’s greatest resource with the world – its people

Through the Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP), leaders from a diversity of sectors, backgrounds, gender, cultural identities and regions across Canada will share their expertise with partner countries around the world.
Canada is home to internationally recognized and sought-after experts across multiple sectors. To support poverty reduction in countries around the world, the TAP project responds to needs identified by countries eligible for official development assistance, ranging from gender equality and vocational training to governance and natural resource management.
Working with Canadian diplomatic missions abroad, national government entities identify ways in which Canadian experts can help strengthen their national policies and programs, increase institutional performance, public service accountability and capacity, and develop new and more inclusive and sustainable ways of doing the business of good governance. TAP’s project team of development professionals recruits, deploys and supports these experts with logistics, training, and work planning.

Diversity and Knowledge within TAP
TAP and Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy
Throughout the project, Alinea will recruit for TAP deployments in multiple areas aligned with the six action areas of the Feminist International Assistance Policy, such as eliminating sexual and gender-based violence, cooperative development, gender equality mainstreaming, and inclusive governance.
In a gender-responsive and inclusive way, TAP provides an opportunity for learning, partnership and discovery for Canadians and partners alike.

Canadians as Active Global Citizens
Canadians have a strong sense of citizenship and share a corresponding set of values, rights and responsibilities.
A key component of TAP is increasing the awareness and engagement of Canadians as partners and global citizens in support of Canada’s international assistance efforts. TAP experts will share their deployment experiences with Canadians through extensive public engagement opportunities, including stories of change, speaking opportunities, and media appearances.

Diversity and Knowledge within TAP
Diversity within TAP fosters belonging and empowerment for mutual goals and results. It creates multiple approaches and points of view and drives innovation, advancing knowledge and discovery. TAP is open and accessible, inviting, creative, respectful; knowledge is seen in a new light, from diverse perspectives. TAP respects and welcomes diversity in areas such as race, gender, ethnicity, regions, experience, economic and educational background, political perspective. TAP listens and engages with diverse communities.
